Malang, June 20, 2024 – Let’s Play Indonesia gave an opportunity for the students of State University of Surabaya (UNESA) to get to know the creative industry more closely through the Comparison Study activity. Fifty students from the D4 Graphic Design Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNESA, Class of 2022 participated in the Comparison Study, which also aimed to strengthen the relationship between students, academics, and practitioners in the field of graphic design.
This Comparison Study activity was designed to broaden students’ insights into how the creative industry operates professionally. Starting from the ideation process to the final production stage was explained.
Students were invited to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the ever-evolving industrial world. Besides that , students could build stronger networks with practitioners, creating collaborations that could enrich their academic and practical experiences.
The Comparison Study was held from 3 to 5 p.m. WIB. The entire series of events was packed with various educational activities. At the beginning, students were introduced to the potential of creating illustration assets applied to educational games. In this session, students were encouraged to understand how illustration becomes an essential component in game development, especially in educational games that must have high educational value.
Then, students were introduced to the production flow process in game creation. That process included the stages of ideation, concept development, prototype design, and final production.
“We want students not only to understand the theory but also to directly see how a game is developed from scratch until it is ready for use by users,” said Istivano, one of the speakers from Let’s Play Indonesia.
In addition, the participants also had the opportunity to try out Si Centing (Stunting Prevention Simulation). A game developed by Let’s Play Indonesia to raise awareness about the importance of stunting prevention.
Through this session, students could see that game applications could be used as an effective educational tool. The session of trying out Si Centing was not only enjoyable, but also provided new insights into the potential of games as beneficial educational media.
UNESA students showed high enthusiasm throughout the event. They actively participated in the discussion sessions, asked about challenges and opportunities in the creative industry, and took part in the game playing sessions.
