On August 15, LetsPlay Indonesia and American Corner joined hands to host a meaningful seminar to prevent suicide. The seminar, titled “ACTIVE LISTENING AND MAINFULNESS: A Dual Approach to Suicide Prevention,” was a platform for participants to explore two innovative approaches to suicide prevention. To address this increasingly pressing issue, LetsPlay Indonesia and Amcor UMM joined hands in an incredible online collaboration via the Zoom platform with a primary focus on mental health. In their Mental Health webinar series, the two have endeavored to provide insight, support, and solutions to understanding and overcoming mental health challenges.

Amcor UMM invited Dr. Emir, an expert in the field of mental health, to open the seminar by explaining the innovative approach he has used to integrate games into learning. He highlighted the importance of “Active Listening” and how its use can create a safe environment for individuals who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts.

Kak Arif, an experienced practitioner in Game-Based Learning, “Mainfulness,” followed with an explanation of how the use of Game-Based Learning, especially Lego Serious Play, can be used to manage stress, anxiety, and negative thoughts that can trigger suicidal thoughts. He guided participants in simple exercises that demonstrated the power of “Mainfulness.”

One of the main highlights of the seminar was the use of the Lego Serious Play method in the context of mental health. The Banyuwangi Regency Government has implemented an innovative program by collaborating with “Jagoan Indonesia,” which aims to empower the younger generation with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the business world. Let’s Studio Advances to GameSeed Incubation Phase

Let’s Play Indonesia’s digital game division, Lets Studio, is pleased to announce that Lets Studio’s mobile game “Playland: Hidden Gems” has been selected as one of the top 20 finalists in the prestigious Game Seed national competition, representing Malang City.

Letsplay Indonesia’s digital game division, Lets Studio, is pleased to announce that Lets Studio’s mobile game “Playland: Hidden Gems” has been selected as one of the top 20 finalists in the prestigious Game Seed national competition, representing Malang City.

“Playland: Hidden Gems” is a mobile game that allows players to take on the role of a tourist collecting souvenirs from various tourist destinations. Through this engaging platform, the game promotes an understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural diversity and uniqueness of tourist destinations both in Indonesia and around the world.

This achievement was made possible by the talented team at Lets Studio, which is part of Letsplay Indonesia. The team involved Istivano as a Game Designer and Project Manager, Linggar, Lena, and Killa from Binus University as illustrators, and Sandy (a graduate of Malang State University) as a Programmer.

In addition to “Playland: Hidden Gems,” Lets Studio also received recognition for another game titled “Pochibi,” which received an Honorable Mention at Game Seed 2023. Impressively, “Pochibi” was developed in three days by the Lets Studio team, which includes Istivano as Game Designer and Project Manager, Dwiki from Universitas ASIA Malang as Programmer, and Wawan, Vivi, and Dafa from Universitas Negeri Malang.

Game Seed is a collaborative initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Indonesian Game Association, Indie Games Group Indonesia, and Google. The mission of the program is to establish ten sustainable game studios each year in Indonesia, with a focus on mobile game products. Game Seed aims to educate developers on how to build a profitable and sustainable mobile game business.

Game Seed consists of five phases:

  1. Registration (March 4 to the last Game Seed roadshow in May).
  2. Roadshows in five cities: Bandung, Surabaya, Batam, Balikpapan, and Solo.
  3. Collection and selection of games for incubation.
  4. The incubation phase is where mentors help participants improve their games based on the data that has been collected.
  5. Grand Final where participants present their games to judges who are representatives of game publishers.

One of the main focuses of the Game Lab Program session is to provide teachers with skills in creating simple educational games. Participants are divided into small groups of five people. Each group is allowed to design and create an educational game using the principles that have been taught during the session.

On May 16, 2023, Letsplay Indonesia, an organization that focuses on developing educational games, held a Game Lab Program in Blitar City. This event was attended by around 70 teachers from kindergarten to junior high school levels in Blitar City who were interested in learning about the use of games as an effective educational medium. Letsplay Indonesia was represented by Arif Bawono Surya, Head of Innovation & Product Development Letsplay Indonesia, who was tasked with sharing knowledge and experience in using games as a learning tool.

In the Game Lab Program session, teachers were given an in-depth understanding of the concept and potential of using games as an interactive and engaging educational tool. Arif Bawono Surya was actively involved in providing guidance and practical examples to participants on how to integrate learning materials with game elements in their classrooms. Through this innovative approach, it is hoped that teachers can increase the appeal and effectiveness of learning for students.
