Podcast with American Corner UNAIR and US Consulate General: Exploring Game Developer Development in Education

Friday, July 19, 2024 – American Corner Airlangga University (UNAIR) have organized a podcast who unites the United States Consulate General with the participants to discuss the development of the game developer industry and its application in the education field. This event was held on Friday (19/7/2024) and involved by Let’s Play Indonesia alongside with American Corner UNAIR.

The main objective of this podcast was to delve into insight on how the game developer industry has evolved and how game technology can be applied in an educational context. This discussion hopefully can give a new perspective about the opportunity and challenge faced by the game developers and how games can be used as an effective educational tool.

 

Series of Activities

The podcast began with an introduction by the activity moderator, who introduced the participants and the main speaker, namely the US Consulate General. This introduction gave a brief overview about the background and goal of the upcoming discussion.

Next, the US Consulate General presented a general view on the development of the game developer industry, especially in the United States. He explained how this industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years and various innovations that game developers have implemented to create more interactive and educational gaming experiences.

The discussion then shifted to the main topic, which is the application of game technology in education. The Consulate General uttered various examples of how game can be used as effective learning tool, starting from educational game that designed to teach specific concepts to the use of gamification element in daily learning to enhance student engagement and motivation.

The participants from American Corner UNAIR also had the opportunity to share their views and experiences. They asked questions about the best way to integrate games into the educational curriculum and how to overcome potential challenges, such as resource availability and acceptance from school.

This discussion was very interactively going on, where each participant was given the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback. The US Consulate General gave in-depth and comprehensive answers, also offering practical advice based on his experience and knowledge.

 

Conclusion

The podcast with American Corner UNAIR and the US Consulate General successfully achieved its goal of discussing the development of the game developer industry and its application in education. Through interactive and informative discussions, the participants gained valuable knowledge about the opportunities and challenges in integrating games into learning. Exciting Day 1 of Graphic Design Vocational Enrichment Program for 8th Grade at MCC!

The first day of our Graphic Design Enrichment Program was filled with enthusiasm as we dived into the fundamentals of Character Design with the inspiring guidance of Kak Ima Kusumawati Hidayat, S.SN, M.DS! Students from SMP Insan Amanah joined with great excitement, eager to learn new techniques and put them into practice right away.

Activities Recap:

  • Introduction to Character Design: The day kicked off with Kak Ima’s engaging lesson on the basics of character design. She shared her insights on essential principles, from proportions to personality traits, sparking the students’ interest in creating unique characters.
  • Learning Cool Techniques: Under Kak Ima’s direction, students explored exciting techniques that form the foundation of effective character design. They learned about shapes, lines, and how to bring out personality through small details—a perfect start for unleashing creativity!
  • Hands-On Practice: With pencils in hand, students wasted no time in applying what they learned. The room was alive with the buzz of sketching and brainstorming as everyone poured their ideas onto paper. Creativity truly flowed as students brought their characters to life!

Inspiration and Enthusiasm:

Each student was brimming with energy and determination to express their ideas. The chance to learn from a professional like Kak Ima ignited a newfound passion for design, and many students left eager to build on their skills in the coming days.

Conclusion:

Day 1 of the Graphic Design Enrichment Program was a fantastic start! With fun, practical learning and inspiring mentorship, students gained valuable insights into character design. We can’t wait to see how their creativity will evolve in the upcoming sessions!
